Practical protection and clear guidance when communities needed it most.

The Challenge
At the height of the pandemic, communities experienced fear, disruption and uncertainty. At the grassroots level, awareness of preventive measures was limited, access to protective materials was inadequate and healthcare facilities were either difficult to access or stretched beyond capacity.
Masks and hand sanitisers were also inaccessible or unaffordable for many local residents. At the same time, misinformation made it harder for families to know which guidance they could trust.
G Initiative stepped forward to close these gaps through practical protection and community education.

Core Response One
G Initiative freely distributed over 1,000 hand sanitisers and 1,000 face masks to local residents.
This practical intervention gave communities access to basic protective materials that many people could not otherwise obtain or afford.
Core Response Two
Preventive materials alone would not be enough. People also needed clear and reliable information explaining how to protect themselves and reduce the spread of COVID-19.
These materials translated complex health information into accessible formats that residents could understand and use in everyday life.

Communication That Connected
Using local languages made the campaign more inclusive and culturally relevant.
Community Impact
The response combined physical protection with education, reassurance and visible community support.
Through the distribution of preventive items and the deployment of accessible health information, G Initiative helped local residents feel better informed and less isolated during a period of widespread uncertainty.
The intervention gave communities the reassuring presence of an organisation willing to stand with them during a crisis.
Continuing the Work
Maintain access to preventive materials and strengthen readiness for future outbreaks.
Reach more rural communities through print, electronic media and native-language communication.
Invest in diagnostic equipment, train local health workers and subsidise treatment for vulnerable populations.
Build stronger systems for monitoring, evaluation and community follow-up.
SDG Alignment
Supporting preventive healthcare, essential protective materials and healthier lives.
Translating health guidance into practical community learning and public awareness.
Reaching grassroots communities where cost, access and language can block protection.
Inviting collaboration across government, healthcare, NGOs, donors and volunteers.
